How we accomplish our mission is as important as the mission itself. Fundamental to fulfilling our mission as a church, striving to serve and please Almighty God are these basic values: Biblically founded:
- All that we do and say is to the glory of God through Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church (1 Corinthians 10:31, Romans 15:17).
- God has given us His Word, the Bible, the primary means by which He reveals Himself (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) to us. (John 1:1, 14; and John 1:26).
- The Bible is our sole foundation and guide for faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
- Our Confessions contain a true exposition of God's Word and are a guide for our faith second only to the Bible.
- Our teaching of God's word must never be compromised.
Prayer:
- To succeed in our mission we need the power, protection and presence of the Holy Spirit. (Mark 11:24; Romans 12:12; Philippians 4:6).
- Prayer must be the atmosphere that gives life to our mission.
Caring:
- Everyone needs the love of God. We are called to be the Body of Christ.
- His presence in the world today to meet peoples' needs (Romans 12:14-18), proclaim God's grace and teach them the things of God as they become fully devoted followers of Jesus. (Matthew 28:20).
- t is therefore essential that we perpetuate this value of high quality in all we do. This is critical in moving people from conversion to commitment.
- Beautiful Savior has a responsibility before God to see our members mature and grow in their walk with the Lord. This commitment is best summed up with the goal of "total life stewardship" (Romans 12:1-2).
- Christ is risen! We, too, are recreated to live a new life in Christ every day. (Philippians 3:10: 2 Corinthians 5:17).
Dynamic Worship:
- We believe that God's heart is that His people would love Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Matthew 22:37-38).
- Our commitment is to have inspiring, dynamic worship celebrations that glorify God and engage the heart, mind and emotions of the people of God, expressed in a spirit of Joy.
- We believe our worship should be Biblically fresh and alive, communicating the pure Word of Law and Gospel, of justification (salvation by grace) and sanctification (living as God's disciples.)
Leadership Development:
- The Lord graciously has poured all the gifts needed for the completion of our mission as His people (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).
- We are committed to helping each person discern and develop their gifts for the glory of God.
- We will only succeed in our mission as far as we equip, train and empower people to embrace Christ's mission as part of their own mission in life. (Ephesians 4:1-13).
- There are no unimportant people at Beautiful Savior; all are capable of service or leadership in some capacity (Romans 12:4-8).
Outreach Minded:
- Jesus's passion is found in Luke 19:10: "The Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." Every Christian must know the following:
- People who aren't disciples of Jesus Christ are lost
- Lost people matter to God
- The Church is primarily a mission to lost people, not a gathered colony of the faithful.
- As children of God, we respond to Jesus' love by personally making His mission our mission. We do this by:
- Praying for world evangelization, missionaries and their families, people who are not Christians, and that we would become better witnesses.
- Financially supporting Christian mission work and special mission projects.
- Telling family members, friends, associates and neighbors about Jesus.
- Participating in servant events and relief efforts.
- Celebrating what God is doing around the world.
Discipleship:
- Jesus commissioned His Church to "make disciples" of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). Our world is urgently in need of people who "embrace" and assist in the spreading the Word of God. This means we, as a congregation must do two things.
- Teach the "full counsel" of God's Word to all our members
- Equip all our members to live according to what is taught. Everything we teach must be taught with the goal of transforming lives into greater Christ-likeness. Ephesians 4:12-13 must be our guide. It reads: "to prepare God's people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature attaining to the to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
Confidence in Faith:
- Our confidence is never based on (nor limited to) our personal abilities or congregational assets. Even in "dark times" we can be optimistic about our mission because we are serving Jesus who was raised from the dead and proclaims what is impossible with people is possible with God. (Luke 18:27) We have His promises, His power and His presence. Let us boldly and joyfully go forth in Jesus name!
